Where is honesty
I’m in need of compassion
What happened to passion
in need of compassion
my passion turned to fashion
I fashioned a vice
Fashion a device
a rope to grope my neck
where is honesty
maintaining an image that we all knew
we all knew this wouldn’t last
if only we would listen to truth
history repeats itself
learn from the past
we all know that this won’t last
so why not quit riding the kilter
quite a ride this killer
the thing you want to hide
even from yourself to keep the lie
to keep the dream of mud pies alive
while you miss the ride of your life
we love what’s real but we don’t like how it feels
but the truth will set you free
and we’ll only become inspired by true honesty
but this isn’t how you’ll truly arrive
this is not you’re triumphal entry
let me be too clear to avoid though it’s not stopped us before
it’s the greed that kills us and the pride that makes us fall
and love outweighs it all
we can’t give up who we are
but we have to be willing to put legs to this
like giving up a seed you love dear to hold the flower near
I wish we could see the light but it hurts more than we’re willing to strain our eyes
Going from the dark to the light
And the desire to be right weighs more heavily than the desire to be light
i’m running low on conviction
because I’ve given up on listening
I wish I could see the light.
What does it mean to be true again?
I stopped short somewhere my Friend
